Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a set of manual therapy techniquesbased on knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the body. It aims to restore and maintain the body's wellbeing thus regaining its ability to regulate and heal itself.

The functional diagnosis of the patient is based on the patient’s case history, clinical assessment and palpation. This leads to a working diagnosis of the problem or lesion, understanding the causes of symptoms in order to correct them from their origin.

Osteopathy considers the body as an integrated and indivisible whole as all the body systems interact with each other. Consequently the malfunction of one system can affect the others. For the human body to function optimally the three main systems of the body must be in harmony

Massages

Massage involves working and acting on different parts of the body though Kneadingand pressureperformed with different rhythm and intensity to achieve preventive, therapeutic, sports or relaxing purposes.

Massage has several properties:

On a muscular level, it regenerates and oxygenates the muscle tissue, improving   skin tone, elasticity and contractility.

On a circulation level, massage promotes blood flow and venous return, improving arterial, venous and lymphatic circulation.

Addition, massage relieves pain, reduces anxiety and tension (stress), increases joint movement and produces a feeling of relaxation and general well-being.

Dry needling

Dry needling is the use of needles as mechanical stimulation for the treatment of myofascial trigger point (muscle contracture). The term “dry” refers to inserting a needle without injecting any substance. Dry needling techniques are classified according to the depth to which the needle is inserted and the fact that the needle reaches or not the muscle tissue. There are two types of techniques:

Superficial dry needling: Consist of using a needle to penetrate the skin and stimulate subcutaneous tissues above the myofascial trigger points, reaching a maximum depth of 1 cm, without entering the muscle.

Deep dry needling: There are several techniques, Hong's fast-in, fast-out technique being the most effective one. The speed used for the penetration and removal of the needle from the muscle, produces the response of a local spasm. The technique is repeated until there are no more spasm responses or until the patient's tolerance level has been reached.

Cupping

Cupping is a therapy used to create a suction on the skin so the fascia, the connective tissue, located just below the skin that wraps the muscle can be separated to break up adhesions and improve muscle movement between the two structures.

The benefits are numerous: relaxing effect, analgesic effect, anti-inflammatory, soothing, hyperaemia (increase of blood flow), as well as activating the metabolism, eliminating accumulated toxins, increase immune system and break adhesions.

There are two types of techniques:

Cupping massage: this technique uses lots of massage oil on the skin and once the suction is created, the cups are glided to produce a massage effect

Fixed cupping: cups are placed on trigger points in order to treat muscular contracture
